The Lifeline express has seven coaches. The first coach consists of the office and the medical store, as well as two autoclave units. The A/C coaches of this train houses modern state-of-the-art operation theatres, a pathology lab, a mammography unit, a gynaecology examination room, a dental unit, an x-ray unit, pharmacy, consultation cubicles, numerous patient wards, on board power generators, a well-equipped pantry and lodging for medical staff. Additionally, the train has an Ophthalmologic testing room, a Laboratory, a X-Ray unit and an auditorium with a large LCD display unit. The train also has a public address system and closed-circuit TV. Two additional coaches of the Lifeline Express (LLE) has been introduced recently to deliver cancer and family health services. The coaches will be used for detection & control of oral, breast and cervical cancer, and prevention of stroke and for family health services. The upgraded Train Hospital with two additional coaches and technologically updated with on board Wi Fi facility which incorporates Tele-Diagnostics, where the expert doctors in Metro Cities could examine the diagnostic reports and images of the patient

The Hospital Train

Life Line Express is said to be the FIRST HOSPITAL TRAIN of the world. A state of the art hospital is housed on train which provides Medical Aid and Relief to poor patients in deep rural pockets of India. It was initiated with the collaborative efforts of Impact India Foundation, Indian Railways and Health Ministry. On 16th of July, 1991, Lifeline Express, the world's first hospital on a train, was launched with the objective to provide on-the-spot diagnostic, medical and advanced surgical treatment for preventive and curative interventions for disabled adults and children

Free Treatment on the Wheels

Life Line Express often called as Jeevan Rekha Express since its inception has treated more than Million poor people of India completely free of cost. This hospital train started off providing treatment primarily for cataract, cleft lips and Polio, over time, began providing plastic surgeries, dental surgeries, epilepsy services, burn contractures, cancer treatment and curative services to people suffering from various kinds of disabilities (mainly disorders of the eye, ear, nose, throat and limbs)

Life Line in Uttara Kannada Constituency

Life Line Express rendered its services in our Uttara Kannada Constituency too… Last Year this Jeevan Rekha Hospital Train travelled to Konkan Railway Network Camped in Kumta Railway Station from 28 October to 18th November. This year Hospital Train camped in Khanapur Railway Station.

Eye Check Up, Spectacle distribution, Cleft lip corrective surgery, Leukoderma check-up and treatment, Hydrophilic and Hernia treatment and surgery, Diagnosis, Treatment, Surgery and referrals for Breast, Cervical and Oral Cancer. Dental check up and treatment were conducted for free. In Kumta 11230 people and in Khanapur 8098 people benefitted from the project.
