OUTSOURCING OF JOBS

2832. SHRI ANANTKUMAR HEGDE: Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether outsourcing of business to other countries has become illegal as per US laws;

(b) if so, the details thereof in this regard;

(c) whether such cases have been brought to the notice of the Government of India; and

(d) if so, the facts in this regard and the action taken by Government?

(a) to (d) There is no federal law in the United States that prohibits outsourcing. However, few states in the United States have taken measures to prohibit offshoring of state services contracts

. India discusses all trade related issues, including market access for its goods and services, with the US on a regular basis.
