REVIVAL OF RATNAGIRI GAS AND POWER LIMITED

(a) the details with regard to power being generated by Ratnagiri Gas and Power Limited along with debt burden on it including the measures taken to pay off the same to major lenders/shareholders;

(b) whether the Union Government proposes to revive the Ratnagiri Gas and Power Limited and has consulted the stakeholders including State Government in this regard;

(c) if so, the details thereof along with the quantum of power targeted to be generated after revival including estimated cost of power generation and the rate at which power is likely to be provided to State Government of Maharashtra; and

(d) the other steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Union Government for early revival of the said power limited?

 (a) :The Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Limited (RGPPL) has an installed capacity of 1967 MW for power generation. Till date, 48 BUs power has been generated by RGPPL. The details of generation by RGPPL is as under:

2009-10 8,289 MU

2010-11 11,877 MU

2011-12 11,618 MU

2012-13 5,127 MU

2013-14 1506 MU

2014-15 -

 RGPPL has a total debt of Rs. 8020 Crore. RGPPL is finding it difficult to service debt due to paucity of funds arising out of non-recovery of fixed charges from beneficiaries. As suggested by lenders and approved by shareholders, Rs. 405.12 Crore of dues as on 1st July 2014 was converted to equity on 2nd January, 2015.

(b) to (d) : Significant relief to RGPPL depends upon increased availability of domestic gas in the country.
