INCREASE IN MILCH ANIMALS

(a) whether an increase in the population of milch animals has been registered in the country during 2007- 2012;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the total population of milch animals during the above said years State-wise;
(c) the details of the increase in the rate of milk production of milch animals during the above said years; and
(d) the percentage of milk production during the above said period?

(a) & (b) Yes, the population of milchanimals (In Milk + Dry) in cattle, buffalo and goat has increased in the country from 173.57 million in 2007 to 180.15 million in 2012.The State- wise milch animal population is enclosed at Annexure-I & II.
(c) The yieldrate of milk production of milch animals during 2007-08 to 2012-13is given in the table below:
