MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT

(SHRI SUDARSHAN BHAGAT)

(a): The total amount released and utilised by the States/UTs under Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) during the last three years and the current year is indicated in Annexure -I.

The assets created under the programme are largely commensurate with the expenditure. Wherever there are aberrations, they are dealt with by the State Governments as per their disciplinary procedure. The Ministry of Rural Development has been engaging with the States emphasizing the need to giving utmost importance to the quality of the assets created, in accordance with the provisions of the Act. The assets created under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) during the last three years and the current year is given in Annexure II.

(b): State/UT-wise details of households who completed 100 days of employment during the last three years and the current year are indicated in the Annexure-III.

(c): The number of days of employment provided to a household depends on the number of days of employment demanded by the household. The demand for work itself is influenced by various factors such as rainfall pattern, availability of alternative and remunerative employment opportunities outside MGNREGA and prevailing unskilled wage rates.

(d) State/UT-wise details of percentage of delayed payment to MGNREGA workers beyond the stipulated period of 15 days under MGNREGA for year 2013-14 and the current year is given in Annexure-IV.

(e) State/UT-wise details of households demanded employment and employment provided during the last three years and the current year are indicated in the Annexure-V.
