TICKETS THROUGH PAYTM

1799. SHRI ANANTKUMAR HEGDE:

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:

(a) whether 70% of booking of railway tickets is being done through Paytm in small cities of the country;

(b) if so, the facts thereof;

(c)whether the Railways is also promoting this mode of purchase of tickets for the benefit of passengers; and

(d) if so, the facts thereof?

(a) & (b): All forms of Payment Gateways (Credit/Debit cards, netbanking, RuPay Card, E-wallet of IRCTC etc.) are being used by customers for booking rail tickets. Rail users have been provided option to book tickets by making payment through various banks/payment providers including Paytm as an aggregator (credit/debit cards, netbanking, wallets). During the Financial Year 2017-18 (upto June, 2017) approximately 17% of total tickets (both reserved and unreserved) were booked through various cashless modes of payment, Paytm being one of them.

(c) & (d): Railways are promoting different modes of cashless transactions including payment through various wallets viz. Paytm, Mobikwik, mRupee, IRCTC wallet, Payu, Freecharge, JIO Money, Ola money etc. The passengers are free to choose the mode of payment.
