FUND FOR RURAL AREAS

(a) whether the Government has constituted a new fund with 500 crore rupees for improving the standard of living of the families living in rural areas of the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the total number of families targeted to be given benefits in the first phase under this scheme;

(d) the time period fixed to complete the first phase of this scheme; and

(e) the assessment made regarding the total number of families to be brought under the scheme and the time by which the same is likely to be achieved?

(a) & (b) The Government of India has approved setting up of Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation (B.R.L.F.) with a corpus of Rs. 500 crore.

(c) A total of 10 lakh families are likely to benefit in the first phase by setting up of B.R.L.F.

(d) After the operationalization of B.R.L.F. Society, the first phase shall be completed in five years.

(e) Initially B.R.L.F. will focus on about 900 blocks that have more than 20% tribal population in 170 districts in nine states including West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
