DECLINE IN ONION PRICES

(a)whether the prices of onion have declined in the domestic market during the period from April to September, 2011 as compared to the prices during the corresponding period of last year;

(b)if so, the details thereof;

(c)whether the Government has banned the export of onion;

(d)if so, the price per tonne of onion in the markets of the country before the ban imposed on its exports;

(e)the reasons for increase in the prices of onion after the ban;

(f)whether the Government has sought any suggestions from the Group of Secretaries regarding the prices of onion; and (g)if so, the details and the outcome thereof ?
