(a)whether the Government has any proposal to protect and maintain places/ sites which are a source of inspiration to the civilisation and culture of the country including Sitamarhi in Bihar;

(b)if so, the details thereof, site-wise;

(c)whether the history of Indian civilisation and culture has captured the attention and interest of the world;

(d)if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(e)the steps taken by the Government to preserve relics/remnants of Indian culture and civilization located in foreign countries?

 (a) & (b)The Archaeological Survey of India conserves, preserves and maintains only those monuments/sites which have been declared as of national importance in the country under the provisions of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.

(c) & (d)Yes, Sir. The history of Indian culture remains is always a subject of study matter of scholars from all over the world. Numerous research articles, publications continue to be brought out on Indian culture and civilization and it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction.

(e)With regard to preservation/protection of cultural heritage outside the country, action is taken from time to time under the purview of various International conventions.
