POWER ECHANGE

(a) whether the sale and purchase of power in the country is made through the power exchange, Indian Energy Exchange (IE) in the country; 

(b) if so, the average sale and purchase of power made through the power exchange in the country during the last two years and the current year, year- wise; and

  (c) the percentage of power transaction made through such power exchange out of total annual power production in the country? 

ANSWER

 THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER(SHRI BHARATSINH SOLANKI) 

 (a) : At present two power exchanges are in operation in India i.e. Indian Energy Exchange Ltd(IE) and Power Exchange India Ltd (PI).The IE commenced its operations in the month of June 200 and PI commenced its operations in the month of October 200. 

 (b)  (c) : The average sale and purchase of power made through the power exchanges during the last two years and the current year, year-wise and the percentage of power transaction made through such power exchanges out of total annual power production in the country are indicated at Annex-A (Table-1  2).
