MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CHEMICALS & FERTILIZERS
(SHRI SRIKANT KUMAR JENA)
a) to b) The estimated production of urea is not going to increase due to availability of natural gas in the current year as additional natural gas is being used for substitution of naphtha being used by the gas based units earlier . However, the cost of production has come down due to usage of gas. Average cost of production of urea in country has approximately reduced from Rs. 13509 Per MT to Rs. 11084 Per MT.
c)Total requirement of natural gas for existing gas based units by March 2009 was estimated at 42.933 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter per Day (MMSCMD).
