SINGLE BRAND RETAIL COMPANIES

Will the Minister of COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY be pleased to state: वाणिज्‍य‍वव ‍द्यग ‍ं ्

(a) whether the Government is considering to put on hold request of various companies received for single brand retail in the country, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government has asked companies to provide more documents to support their applications for the above and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) whether many companies have requested that they be allowed to forego the 30% local sourcing norm for a range of products and if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) & (b):The investment proposals by foreign companies for single brand retailing in the country is guided by the FDI policy provided in Consolidated FDI Policy Circular, 2016. During the course of examination, if any information/ documents are found missing/ incomplete in the proposal submitted by the applicant, which are required for processing of such proposals, the same are sought from the applicant(s).

(c): Only 3 companies have sought relaxation of sourcing condition. No decision has been taken by the Government in this regard.
