FUNDS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF HORTICULTURE

ANANT KUMAR HEGDE

(a)the details of the central funds allocated and utilized for the development of Horticulture in the country during the last three years, State-wise;

(b)the achievements made by the States receiving assistance under the said funds;

(c)whether the Government proposes to raise the allocation of funds to the States for further development of horticulture;

(d)if so, the details thereof; and

(e)if not, the reasons therefor?

(SHRI KANTILAL BHURIA):

(a) The details cf assistance provided during last three years under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes

(i) Macro Management in Agriculture—Supplementation/ Complementation of State efforts through Work Plan

(ii) Technology Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture in North Eastern States, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal (TMNE), are given in enclosed Statement-I & Statement-ll, respectively.

(b) Under the Macro Management Scheme, the following achievements have been made during the period:

(i) An area of 22096 hectares have been covered under horticulture crops.

(ii) 5950 hectares have been covered under drip irrigation/sprinkler irrigation.

(iii) An area of 2751 hectares were rejuvenated for fruits and cashew nuts, and

(iv) 7882 hectares were covered under demonstration for integrated pest management. Similarly under TMNE—An area of 62300 hectares have been covered under horticulture crops since 2001-02.

(c) and (d) The allocation of funds for development of horticulture in the country has been raised from Rs. 540 crores in 2004-05 to Rs. 1405 crores in 2005-06.
