HDFC BRANCHES IN KARNATAKA

(a) the number of branches of Housing Development Finance Corporation in various States;

(b) whether HDFC has set up any new branch in Karnataka during the last three years;

(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; . ¦

(d) whether the Government proposes to set up new branches of HDFC during 2005-06; and

(e) if so, by when?

 (a): As reported by the National Housing Bank (NHB), Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) had 180 offices in India as on September 30, 2004.

(b) & (c): Presently, there are Eight offices of HDFC in Karnataka, of which four offices were opened in the last three years. Two of these were opened in Bangalore and one each in Gulbarga and Mangalore.

(d) & (e): Government does not hold any share in HDFC, hence the question does not arise.
