Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde lays foundation stone for construction of Khanapur Railway Station

Belagavi, Feb 9 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ananth Kumar Hegade laid foundation stone for New station building at Khanapur, New Foot Over Bridge of Londa station and commenced the provision of stoppage at Khanapur railway station for T.No.11005/11006, Dadar-Puducherry-Dadar Tri-Weekly express today.

Stoppage of express trains at Khanapur was a long pending demand of the people of the region. Railway Board has now approved provision of temporary stoppage on experimental basis for a period of 6 months for the T.No.11005/11006, Dadar-Puducherry-Dadar Tri-Weekly express. As and when traffic picks up at Khanapur stoppage will be made permanent. Train No. 11005, Dadar-Puducherry Express will arrive Khanapur station at 09:29 hrs. and depart at 09:30 hrs. Train No.11006 Pondicherry-Dadar Express will arrive Khanapur station at 17:29 hrs. and depart at 17:30 hrs.

According to SWR officials, The new station building of 480 Sq.m. is being constructed at Khanapur railway station at an estimated cost of Rs.1.5 Crores. High level platform will be constructed enabling the passengers to board and deboard trains easily. Platform will be extended to accommodate 24 coaches. Waiting room, concourse and other amenities will be provided. 

New Foot Over Bridge is being constructed at Londa station at a cost of Rs.2.32 Crores which will provide easy connectivity to all platforms at Londa Station.
