Another paid gaddar: BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde to IAS officer who said govt was fascist

Uttara Kannada MP and BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde on Sunday remarked that if the IAS officer who quit his job over Article 370 could called the government fascist, he had the liberty to call him "another paid gaddar".

Anantkumar Hegde made the remark in a tweet on Sunday evening.

"If this guy can conclude that the Union Government is fascist; then we have the liberty to call him another paid gaddar, dancing to the tunes set by his real paymasters! This may be the debate he wants to initiate!" Anantkumar Hegde tweeted.

He was referring to Karnataka IAS officer Senthil who submitted his resignation on Friday. Senthil had said that the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir was one of the reasons for his decision to resign, calling it a "fascist onslaught".

In another tweet, Anantkumar Hegde tagged Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa and said, "The state government should realise that it should have sacked him after he opened his polluted mindset against the Union Government. But cajoling this gaddar to return, amounts to treacherous act against the nation."

In a letter, Senthil said "fundamental building blocks of democracy were being compromised in an unprecedented manner".

Senthil also said he felt the coming days will present extremely difficult challenges to the basic fabric of the nation and that he will be better off outside the IAS to continue work at making life better for all. "It simply cannot be business as usual anymore," he said.

In an interview to a media website, Senthil said that the abrogation of Article 370 made him realise the kind of political framework which was being pushed on the nation.

"I have always been tracking political agendas and moves and in my opinion this is a very clear fascist onslaught," Senthil said in the interview.

Senthil, who belongs to Tamil Nadu, is a 2009 batch Indian Administrative Service officer. He was made deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada in 2017. He previously served as deputy commissioner in other parts of the state, including Raichur.

Last month, another IAS officer, Kannan Gopinathan, resigned from service because of restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Gopinathan held the post of secretary of power, urban development and agriculture departments in the Dadra and Nagar Haveli administration.
